9NEWS Forecast News

Forecast by: Meteorologist Ashton Altieri Last updated:

Welcome to the weekend and the same old weather story. After mainly dry conditions this morning along the Front Range, a chance for thunderstorms will develop this afternoon. And just like yesterday, some of the storms will produce very heavy rain which could lead to flash flooding. The best chance of this happening will be over the far southern sections of the metro area where a FLASH FLOOD WATCH has been posted for areas such as Castle Rock and Larkspur.

Temperatures around Denver, Boulder, and Fort Collins will reach into the middle and upper 80s today.

In the mountains, plan on mostly cloudy skies with scattered thunderstorms this afternoon. Some of the rain will be very heavy. High temperatures will be in the 60s and lower 70s.

The chance for thunderstorms producing heavy rain along the Front Range will continue through about midnight. Some storms may also produce very gusty winds while some neighborhoods stay completely dry. Then skies should at least partially clear as temperatures drop into the lower 60s.
